Ephesians 4:30- Don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit (To distress, cause emotional sadness)

1 Thessalonians 5:19- Don’t quench the Spirit (Extinguish, put out)

Rather

Galatians 5:16-I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.



The Character and qualities of the Holy Spirit

· He is personal, feeling pain and distress and emotional sadness

· He is powerful and full of energy

(Colossians 1:29- Paul struggles with the energy of God working in Him)

What pleases the Holy Spirit?

Ephesians 5:8-14- Walk in the Spirit and find out what pleases the Lord

1 Timothy 2:1-4- Prayers, thanksgiving, intercessions for all people

John 8:29- Jesus says he always does what please God

What does Jesus enjoy most?

  • · Reconciliation

  • · Forgiveness

  • · Love

  • · Good News spread

  • · Repentance

  • · Service

What saddens and hurts the Holy Spirit?

  • · Sin

  • · Selfishness

  • · Pride

Has the spirit been extinguished?

  • How is your spiritual zeal?

  • There is a difference between being tired and being spiritual extinguished

  • Have you lost conviction about sin, community, the word of God?
